Northern Tanzania Emergency Communications Center

For the first time, northern Tanzania has a coordinated emergency dispatch system — staffed around the clock, built on professional standards, and designed to serve everyone.

The Northern Tanzania Emergency Communications Center (NTECC) is the operational hub of emergency medical coordination in the Arusha region. When someone calls, a trained Emergency Medical Dispatcher answers, assesses the situation, and coordinates the right response — getting patients the care they need, faster.

What We Do

NTECC is more than a dispatch line. It is a fully staffed emergency coordination center built on internationally recognized standards.

Our dispatchers are trained Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMDs) operating under Ambulensi protocols — the same evidence-based framework used by professional EMS systems across Africa. Every ambulance in our network is tracked in real time via Vodacom GPS, so we always know where our resources are and can get the closest unit to you quickly.

We also offer live medical consultation through the GoodSAM platform. When you call, our dispatchers can connect you directly with a physician or paramedic who can guide care in real time — before the ambulance arrives. For remote locations, facilities without on-site medical staff, or anyone who needs immediate clinical guidance, this capability can make a critical difference.

  • If you or someone near you is experiencing a medical emergency, call 0800-750-392. The call is free. A trained dispatcher will answer, help you understand what to do while help is on the way, and coordinate the right response.

  • Healthcare Facilities and Hospitals NTECC coordinates transport between facilities and ensures patients arrive with communication and clinical handoff. If your facility wants to register as a receiving partner in our network, reach out at tim@tzems.org.

  • Ambulance Providers NTECC is neutral, shared infrastructure — built to serve the whole region, not a single provider. If you operate an ambulance service in northern Tanzania and want to join the network, we want to hear from you. Joining means your service is visible, coordinated, and operating to a recognized professional standard. Reach out at tim@tzems.org.

  • Your guests are far from home. If a medical emergency occurs, they need a system that works. NTECC offers service agreements for lodges and tourism operators across northern Tanzania — ensuring that when something goes wrong, there is a number to call and a coordinated response ready. Contact us to discuss options for your property.

Our Goal

NTECC exists to build something that has never existed in this region — a coordinated, professional, and accessible emergency response network that serves everyone, regardless of where they live or what they can pay.

We are actively expanding our network of ambulance providers and receiving facilities. We are building the data infrastructure to understand call patterns, response times, and community needs. And we are working toward a system that can serve as a model for coordinated emergency care across Tanzania.

The work is underway. The number is live. Call us.
